When you call for an appointment, their will be an opportunity to have some of your questions answered, and you may be asked a few questions about the difficulties you are experiencing.
If unable to help you with your particular situation, contact details for a more suitable therapist will be provided.
The First Session.
Most people feel uncomfortable talking to a new person about private things. A supportive approach will be taken to help alleviate any uneasy feelings.
During the first session an assessment of your current life circumstances, problems and any related history will be conducted. It should be noted that every session provides opportunities for new and relevant information to come up at your discretion, when you feel safe to disclose personal matters, and as matters arise.
The first session will also allow you the opportunity to ask any questions regarding your therapy.
The Length of Therapy.
The number and frequency of sessions will vary from client to client. Some problems will require specific focused psychological strategies, and may require up to 15 sessions. Some clients will benefit from much longer therapy.
Because we all have different problems and personalities, treatment plans need to be flexible, tailored to each individual and with periodic review of therapy progress and reference to your goals.
